Need advice on which vehicle to choose?

Hi MBWorld I am new to this forum. I am looking to get advice on personal experience for GL450 / GL350 or R350.

Basically, I am looking to get a used family SUV or Mini-Van (not decided) and my main option is minimum 7 seater and at least 2-3 luggage space.
I was browsing for some certain models like GL450, GL350 and R350. So my concern is which has the most space and which year is best to look at.
My budget is 35-40k. I know that's not a lot. Which would be more comfortable to drive and better gas mileage. Which would not make a bigger hole in my wallet. I had never owned a Merc before yet I still love the German cars looks and the body built. I had owned BMW 528 around 12 years back in another country and I had respect for German cars than the Japanese cars. This would be my first SUV or Mini Van.

I had seen in cars.com GL450 2010 33,000 miles for $38k. Is it worth it? what would be the best maximum miles to look for ( used ones).

Also what would be the cost of maintenance in dealer and non dealers?

I am still looking for better price deals.

Hoping to get some response.

Thanks.

Robin

GL has more cargo space than R in 7 seater mode but still limited, i can manager to put a full size stroller plus a mid size stroller behind 7 seater, but that all.

Cost of maintain is ~$300(oil change) at dealer. DIY oil change is ~$100 a time.

a yakima or a thule roof box is your answer.

and yes- there is room for a full size stroller behind the 3rd row, but it is a tight fit.

7 with luggage puts you in a minivan (or SUV with a carrier).

The GL fits 5 with luggage and 7 with a little as well as any other SUV and is the most comfortable thing I have driven in that size class.
