mBrace

So long story short I was offered a trial of mBrace for my GL. I figured why not.

What a turdball of a product. I have a pair of MB's and I love the brand but you would think a company like Mercedes could do better than they have with mBrace.

Supposedly they had it all setup and the vehicle provisioned only none of the features worked. Called back they wanted to "reprovision" it. Well that didn't work and I called back again. And yet again they wanted to reprovision it. They tried a total of 5 times.

So I called them back and said just forget it, cancel it even though the trial isn't up. I was done wasting my time. The gal on the other end just couldn't grasp why I would give up "so much safety and security". Spent 10 minutes trying to convince me to keep the service. I was like "what possible benefit is there IF IT DOESN'T WORK?"

Love my MB's, not a fan of COMAND and mBrace is simply a joke. MB does some great things with there cars and many features are industry leading. But why are they getting punked on NAV and Telematics/On-Star type services by companies like Kia and Hyundai?

I realize this is nothing new.... Just frustrating at times.

We own both MB and BMW. The BMW is one year newer, but feels 10 years newer with nav/telematics/infotainment/user interface. MB is in sad shape when it comes to this.

it does work but is slow, annoying and provisioning might take 48 hours after activated to work.

but it is an added safety so for a family vehicle it is really a good thing.

i have it on all my mbs

Out of curiosity how much do they charge for MBrace? I had OnStar on a Suburban but never felt much value from it outside of total disaster (accident etc.)

$280 a year for basic services and then $28 a month for the smartphone app.

I agree it would be a nice safety feature. But multiple attempts to provision it over 10 days and refusing to do anything beyond reprovisioning to solve the issue didn't leave me with any faith it would work if ever needed in a true emergency. MB really needs to step it up in this area.

I also find a little disappointing that I posted a concern about this on the MB Facebook page. Courteous praised the vehicles, disappointed in this feature... There response was to delete the post and not reply or respond. Like I said initially they are great cars and I love mine. But there are two areas they are severely lacking in and burying their heads in the sand to the issue is not going to help.
