P0012 P0022 errors

This is a reference to a similar thread for the W203 (C-class):

I am surprised no one with a GL has seen this same problem. It's the same problematic part - the camshaft magnet / solenoid. I won't repeat all what is written in the other thread except to except to summarise that it is apparently fixed with cheap parts and relatively little labor. I don't yet know if my GL is having similar symptoms but for a different cause, but heck - it's the same part on a similar engine. The procedure seems to be identical, so I suspect the engines are very similar. If anyone can tell me otherwise, please post.

I was having P0012 and P0022 intermittent errors. I replaced the intake solenoids on both the passenger (P0012) and driver (P0022) sides. I haven't yet replaced the exhaust side solenoids, but they don't look a whole lot more difficult.

The part you are supposed to replace is A 272 001 0077. The replacement (updated) part is A272 001 0177. They are surprisingly cheap, only about $20 apiece.

I spent a couple of hours and happily recognize I am just about the slowest mechanic on the planet. So it ain't bad.

Someone said on some other thread that replacing the solenoids is just a band aid. Time will tell.
