09 GL550, 82kmile
saw a 2009 GL550 at MB dealer.
with 82k miles,
during test driving, found that the steering wheel is off-center when the car is going straight, just slightly, maybe 2 degrees.
when checking the service history, seems that it once spent 1 month in MB dealer when it has 71k miles, repair items are:
cylinder head, 2 of them
Gaskets,
cylinder head bolt
exhaust valve
ts filter insert
expansion plug
chain tightener
pulse wheel
any comments on how serious were those repairs, thanks a lot.

My 09 GL550 has about 60K miles, and so far the only repairs are brake pads and new tires. Be aware that the 20-in. tires appear to be unique to this automobile and are almost impossible to find. The cost is $400-$500 ea. The dealership is the only source I've located them in stock.
I hope I'm not looking at major repairs like this down the road. I'd have to trade it in.
As for the steering wheel, it is infinitely adjustable--I'm not clear on your meaning.

The 550 has 21 inch tires.....
I ran my 2008 Gl550 to 87K before trading it in on my GL63 ....
Loved the X164..... Don't know about a specific engine issue that would cause that kind of repair. So maybe it was a one off.
My 08 had a front steering rack replaced under warranty (recall), I blew a transmission cooler line seal that was an expensive fix, and they fixed Ana engine seal that has been a slight issue across the 550 engine range. My Gl63 has been more in the shop since Nov than my 08 was in 3 years!
