A/C compressor replacement (how much oil)

Hello All,

I have a 2007 GL450 w/o rear A/C system.

The wheel on my compressor just fell off so I guess I need to replace it.
I purchased the Denso 471-1594 compressor. It supposed to include the OIL, but when I look inside the compressor it's dry.

I took the whole system apart (I will post DIY photos when I am done), but I cannot find how much oil to put into the new compressor.
Everywhere I look, including the STAR service manual, says to put in slightly more than the replaced compressor had. That is not an option for me as some of the oil spilled out when I removed the compressor.

Please help...

Thank You

I don't know the answer, but I've attached a great document that I've used when working on AC in the past. I can tell you that for my Chevy truck, when I replaced the compressor, it took only a small amount of PAG oil (which is what MB uses as well) in the compressor because the majority of the oil from your original copressor is still in the system. I would use 1/2 a small bottle (I think they are 6-8 ounces) and you should be OK.

How difficult was it to remove the AC compressor? I need to do the same.
