Driveline drag after cat change?
Checking to see if I am crazy or this is something others have noted.
Just had the 09 GL450 in for a CEL. It ultimately was 1 of the two catalytic convertors which needed to be replaced. They also replaced an O2 sensor, and I had to go back because the O2 sensor wire was "cut," but they replaced it for me free of charge. Of course, that last bit was a joke since I guess who cut the O2 sensor. Cute.
Anyway, since I've had it back, it drives fine except that there seems to be a driveline resistance. Meaning, when I left off the gas, there is major drag which slows the truck and lowers rpm significantly. To the point that it feels like engine-braking (or tranny braking). It is strong enough feeling which will push you forward when you let off the gas.
I know this is new. I've driven it for the past 3+ years. It feels like the drag or brakes the truck does when it is on cruise control and you start going down a steep-grade, and the vehicle's CC slows you down.
Anyone experience similar? I know it doesn't seem like much, but if there is some drag on the drivetrain, then I suspect it causes quicker wear on its parts.

Your tranny adaptations were reset and the tranny reverted to default programming. It should relearn after some driving.
Unless they messed something but it doesn't add up considering what the repair was.
