GL320 Power Loss When Engine Hot

Hello...

I have a 2008 GL320 CDI with 100K miles. When starting up with a cold engine, the engine performs well...no issues. However, when starting a hot engine, the car is VERY slow to accelerate. I can eventually get to highway speeds, but pressing the accelerator does not result in a burst of power. It's almost like the turbo-charger isn't working. When the engine has cooled off and I start off again, all is well. Can drive for hours with no issues. Any ideas?

Hi jeh2337! Were you able to resolve your issue. If so could you please guide me. I think I have the same problem on 2009 GL320. On highway while cruising I experience loss of acceleration and if I reset the ignition it runs well for a short time and then behaves same again. I noticed this issue more frequently when the engine is hot and driving on highway only at higher speeds. Lower speeds are OK and smooth. Kindly help. Thanks

Yeah...I problem was resolved. The issue was failure of the differential pressure sensor that's tucked up behind the exhaust pipe under the car. I had someone replace it for me, so I don't know the exact location, but that did the trick.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I was very concerned that it might be the whole turbo charger which is around $1500 part alone.

The DPF sounds a more affordable part. If you dont mind sharing how much the entire service cost you (Part and Labour) will be much appreciated.

Was there an engine light popped on dash or did you have someone diagnose this for you. I had a light popped up once says "P0299" but after I cleared it once it didnt come back in almost a month now.

Sounds like a "limp mode". Get the CEL code. Search code on this site and you should be able to find what part you need to replace. Others had the same issue, I'm one of them. It should be all documented.
