GL Class (X164) 2007-2012: GL320CDI, GL420CDI, GL450, GL550

Gl450 error code P0422 ? Anyone have any knowledge of what this could mean?

Gl450 error code P0422 ? Anyone have any knowledge of what this could mean?
Hey guys,

We just bouht our 07 gl450 and 3 days in our check engine light came on. Ran the codes and it gave us P0422. the guy that ran the codes was talking about potentially needing to replace a 'bottle shaped part' lol. (my wife had them run so thats what she brought back)

Anyone have any experience with this? I cannot tell any negative experience with the driving etc.

the 'bottle shaped part' is one of the cat converters and you should really look for another mechanic if he is telling you that the code is thrown because of bad cat.

yes, the code means 'cat efficiency below threshold', but more often than not it is one (or both) o2 sensors before and after the cat that have gone bad and the actual cat is alright.

have the o2 sensors around the offending cat replaced and if the code comes back - then replace the cat.

99 E55, 00 S500, 01 CLK55, 01 E320, 04 E320
I have 2008 GL450 with around 120K miles, using only Chevron gas, i had P0420, cleared it, added extra techrone and 4000 miles with no CEL, then light came back, after 50 miles light went off and then back again. and now after erasing it, it coming back after aprox 120 miles. Any ideas?
