Looking for 2008 GL Brochure and '08 550 vs '11 450
Hi, New to the forum. Considering a GL because of the need for 3rd row seat. I'm looking at 2008 GL550 and a couple of 2011 GL450s. Can anyone point to where to find the 2008 GL brochure showing the standard options included in GL 550. I found the 2011 brochure but can't seemed to find one for 2008. Between 08 550 and 11 450, which one will you go for? Why? Mileage is around 67K for 550 and 58K for 450.

The 08 may or may nor have Bluetooth for your phone. The 11 will support most Bluetooth phones. Neither one will support bluetoothing music. Biggest farse I've ever seen with MB. You can buy aftermarket kits. Although not the best they have many quirks.
If the 550 has the 21" wheels you will find a very limited selection of tires and ones you do find are close too above the 400 bucks each. The 450 came with std 18 inch and optional 19 inch and have plenty to choose from.
Also since you are out of warranty be prepared to pay though the nose on your interest rate. Once they go out of warranty they plunge in value and no one wants them. They end up on buy here pay here lots.
If you're buying a aftermarket warranty make sure they have a good track record and they repair the stuff that commonly goes wrong with these over engineered marvels. You may also be paying through the nose on that too. And may be limited as to type of warranty you can buy. We would hate for you to throw good money after bad. These places are going bust fast!
If shopping for a CPO they are generally very over priced. As they are giving you under market bank loans through Mercedes, reconditioning the hell out of them and putting a warranty on them. All of this of course comes at a cost so they can't compete with a non MB dealer on the sale price.
Would also suggest you do a through evaluation of both vehicles. Take it to an indy and have them over it from tip to tail. Like I said once they go out of warranty the cost goes up and problems only get bigger.
Also try eBay for the sales brochure so you know what came standard and what was optional.

If you have command with navigation, you should be prewired for a phone. You just need to buy a bluetooth puck. I have it in my 2007.
The 450 came with 18", 19", or 20" wheels.

Blown V8 is correct.
Make sure the vehicle is equipped the way you want it. Most states now require hands free cell phone. I suspect once more states latch onto this the value of vehicles without the Bluetooth will plunge even more! Yes there work arounds but it's just another something hanging from the visor or dash for someone to steal it.
The Bluetooth puck is available all over the internet. It will sit in the center console. I've only seen this once so I can't go any further on it's workings or features. Someone else have to chime in here with how it works.
The 450 should have Bluetooth as standard. Make sure your phone will sync up to it. The infotainment systems in the pre 2013 models is udderly worthless. I don't know what Benz was thinking or I should say not thinking! Most of these came equipped with the media pkg and you should have a plug in the glove box with handles the pre iPhone 5 phones and a mini jack. There is NO USB outlet in any of these. You can buy a dongle from VISEEO for under a hundred bucks to Bluetooth music to the command head on the iPhone but don't know about other phones. It works but is very quirky at best.
