Command center LCD screen acting-up (ghost/gray lines) in cold weather

……, or at least I think it is the cold weather, based on some google search and seeing others reporting the temperature being the culprit for similar problems. Mine started to show gray lines, or ghost image as soon as it got colder, and it appears to come back after some driving/warm up or sunny warm day. Anyway…, has anyone experienced this? I am out of warranty, I know the dealer just replaces the entire unit, but I wonder if just changing the LCD screen would do it for me (that is easy and I can find screens for around 150$). I could change the screen but could it be something inside the unit causing the problem, I don’t want to buy LCD when the issue is somewhere else. All functions/buttons appear to work, I just can’t see the input on the screen. I know that in general LCD screens don’t like the cold but I am talking about temps only in the 40s and 50s F. Any ideas and input are appreciated!!

Thanks

Had the same issue and as time went on the more lines appeared. Replace the LCD with a unit purchased in EBay.

thanks for the info Cali! I actually found a repair tech that will replace the lcd screen for me, and also fix my "can't read nav CD error" for 250$. I just have to remove and ship it to him ( 20$ shipping). He will ship back to me for free. I will first try that option. That repair tech also has an add on ebay. I will let you know how it goes...

Just a quick update, like I said I will be sending my unit to a repair man in New Jersey. Well..., I just received my unit back, all is good, screen working, he even fixed my DVD Nav read error, total = 250$ plus my shipping to him 27$, he shipped it back free. If you want to know it is the ebay seller eflow666, the guy is Jimmy Chen. He fixed it in 2 days, and sent back.
