Guys,

Perhaps someone can post a diagram how to 'open up' the back of the second row seat to get to the tensioner assembly of the middle seatbelt. Mine got loose this morning and no longer retracts back into the seat. Need to look at the tensioner to see if it has a broken spring. Does anyone know how to get to it?

Any chance that the belt is simply caught/jammed in the tensioner?

The belt is pulled all the way out and not going back into the seat. I think tensioner mechanism either broke or something is stuck there. Need to take a look but not sure how to take the back seat panel off.

I looked at mine, albeit very quickly, so I haven't actually done it... But unless someone can give you better advice, I would gently try to pry the carpeted area off. If you go slow and careful, you'll be able to "feel" if it's going to work, or not. Or... maybe pull back the sides of the seat (it appears to "clip" in along the back panel) and see what you see? Sorry I can't give you more specific help.

EDIT: Just thought of something... are there side airbags in the second row?

I had the same problem several years ago. The carpet on the back does carefully pull out. Check the plastic bezel at the top of the seat too. That can cause seat belts to bind.

Yes, the is Airbag tab sewn into the side of the seats in the second row. I assume that there are side airbags is there.
