Coming up on 100k miles - what "preventative" maintenance should I ponder?
Hey gang:
Used to be far more active on MBWORLD when I had my ’07 e63. Having aged a bit, I’m now in a 2012 GL450 – was the wife’s car, but she wanted something smaller, so I took her car and will be driving it for awhile.
Just curious what the collective wisdom of the board thinks should be addressed “preventively” at the 100k mark. We’ve done many of the scheduled services, but just want to see if there is anything out there which the group things is a MUST-DO, if only to make sure I’ve gotten it done before it leads to trouble.
Heading in Thursday to my Indy to replace the rear shocks (one is leaking – damn it). Wondered what else to ponder while she’s under the knife.
I searched for awhile and didn’t really see a “100k mile suggested items” thread.
My apologies if I’m missed something comprehensive on the topic.
Thanks!
- Pete

Go ahead and replace all four air bags with Arnott. The odds are that they are leaking slowly and this causes premature wear on the pump. You may as well get the complete front struts as you will pay the difference to your shop in additional labor anyway.
Change fluids in the differentials and transfer case.
Consider changing out the hoses next cooling system flush.
You have been doing the fluid/filter transmission changes, right?
All of this will be terribly, terribly expensive. About three months of payments on a new one.

You don't need airbags replacement, if they are not leaking. When they leak, you would know. These airbags are not cheap, it would put a small dent in your pocket book. I only replace the leak front airbag on my Range Rover at 95k mile, and it is fine on handling and steering.
