I need to do this to my gl450
Does anybody know what AMG calipers were used in the front and in the rear and also what rotors were used please I need to do this to my truck I don't care about the price and how long is it going to take me, can someone please direct me in the right place I do have a set of yellow new e55 AMG calipers on hand I wonder if I can use this on my truck and should I use the stock rotors or should I use the AMG ones for the e55. Please guys if anybody can give me any ideas on what should I do and what part should I get I would really appreciate it. Please keep in mind I do have the AMG calipers already..

I’m wanting to specifically use a factory AMG 8pot/ 4pot combo. The calipers for the W164 are ugly as sin imho and I prefer the aesthetics of Brembo AMG calipers

HUGE THANK YOU TO Ariane on this post. While the W164 was different in a few aspects, I used this as a baseline and swapped a W164 GL450.
Notes:
1. Add 4mm spacers to lift the caliper away from the bracket
- put the new calipers & brackets on hub, then break bolts holding brackets/calipers together loose - this is a PITA. Have power tools or a big breaker bar.
2. W164 trucks. Add 5mm spacer between the hub and caliper bracket to push the caliper away from the hub.
3. If you buy used calipers, make sure there is not corrosion between the stainless steel sliders and aluminum caliper. If there is you will not be able to slid new pads in. Easy to check, if you cannot get pads out by hand, calipers are bad.
4. I used EBC Red brake pads - but you can use OEM. Install pads on caliper before installing the caliper on the truck.
5. I used stainless brake lines - but you can use OEM. Either way, install lines on the caliper before installing the caliper on the truck. Route on top of upper control arm to keep away from CV joint.
6. Use GL caliper bolts (longer than E or S bolts). Slide through hub, then add 5mm spacer then add caliper.
7. If GL450 you will need 25mm wheel spacers to clear the wheels - might be different for other wheels/models.
Parts:
Calipers: ANY 8 piston AMG (2006 E55 & S55 are the same)
Pads: Find them for that ^^
Rotors: 2017 GLE63
If you want new stuff, I can put together a package and you would need to source calipers. Message me if interested.
Even with plug & play info, this is not an easy swap. Expect it to take 5+ hours.
