Hi All,
The guide pulley that bolts to the water pump seized and shredded my serpentine belt so I am replacing the guide pulley, idler pully and the tensioner but I can't seem to find the bolt torque specs for them. I have found plenty for other models, but mot my 2009 GL450.
Also, I plan to use thread lock Blue 242 on the bolts, is this recommended on all of the bolts?
I'm ready to torque the bolts but need to confirm the torques so I don't strip the bolts/holes.
I am replacing the following in the diagram:
Guide Pulley (1) - 1 bolt
Idler Pulley (2) - 1 bolt
Tensioner (3) - 2 bolts
Please help me confirm the torque required for these bolts.
Thanks
Hi Plutoe,
Thanks so much for your reply!
I tightened to 25nm and applied blue242 thread locker. I was veru nervous about breaking the bolts so I used values I was finding online.
I found documentation stating the tensioner should be tightened to 35nm if the hole is untapped and 25nm when tapped. Since I was replacing the tensioner, I used 25nm with thread locker. Do you think this is OK?
