3 car seats - where do you guys position them
This has been a pain - Our oldest (4 yr old) wants to sit in the middle of the centre row, fair enough I mounted her seat in the center - I made the 2nd row passenger seat to fold and stand, put 2 car seats in the 3rd row - but sometimes we need to haul something and need bigger trunk space... when I put the infant seat behind driver I cant recline enough and I'm cramped up... any suggestions how you guys are positioning them, I'm at a dead stop

I drive the same year GL 350. My experience with the GL, as well as an R class, an E320 wagon, and an Acura MDX... it depends on the child seat dimensions. Some are bigger than others. I have managed to get 3 seats in all vehicles, but with some seats I have never managed more than 2.
The bigger seats definitely seem sturdier and safer, but sometimes you have to accept pretty safe for 3 instead of incredibly safe for 2.
That is all in 2nd row, which I took to be your question. Of course you have more options if you incorporate 3rd row in any of the vehicles mentioned above

Without using the 3rd row, the answer sounds pretty obvious. Put the 4-year old behind you, or deal with not reclining so far. There's no magic pill here! But time does help... they move into booster seats and can start to buckle themselves... then they can start to get into and out of the car all by themselves... then they start calling "shotgun"... then start asking for the keys.
