When my '07 GL320 is slowing from 10mph it does a jerk like you hit a post.

The compressor was failing and and was offering up malfunction messages. I just replaced the compressor (Suncore-$199) and the air bags are two years old or less.

Would the the suspension being soft and low but not on the bump stops cause the car to brake abruptly when slowing?

Personally I suspect a wheel speed sensor interfering with the anti-lock system. I have an appointment with Sun Motors for Wednesday but I want to see what the experts here say before their amateurs plug it into a Star machine.

it might be a rough 3-2 downshift... if there are no errors i would begin with resetting tranny adaptions

no errors. Nothing unusual except for the above mentioned air pump issue which has been resolved.

Any way way to reset the adaptations without the magic MB box?

I looked up the tranny reset procedure. Appears to be:

key -2
pedal smashed and hold
key off
wait 10 minutes and restart
drive normal and see how it works

For the x164/166 there is no tcu adaptation reset possible without star/ das.
