2008 GL450 Side Marker Light

The driver side marker light message indicates that the bulb is burned out (verified visually.) It seems impossible to replace the bulb without taking the bumper and headlight unit off. Just can't fit my hand in there. Crazy engineering to make it so hard to replace a bulb.

I'm thinking of taking the driver side front wheel off and drilling a hole into the steel blocking direct access to the lamp. Will then replace the circular hole (using hole saw) for the metal and the plastic fender cover.

Any other thoughts?

I had one go out last year, and was able to get my hand in after removing all the fasteners I could locate and loosening the headlight unit. I still ended up losing a fair amount of skin off my hand, but was finally able to change the bulb. Not fun, but probably still better than what the dealer would have charged me!!

Had a 2008 gl. Had same issue. Bad engineering. Only way to get to bulb is take bumper cover down.
