GL steering wheel sensor
Hi guys, I need your help with understanding the steering wheel sensor operation.
Some of the errors I'm getting suggesting a faulty steering wheel sensor.
No active alarms regarding the steering wheel sensor.
But I have one stored alarm (defective steering wheel sensor).
The Star seems to be reading the angle.
Is it possible to have a defective sensor even if it has a reading?
Thanks.

I do not have any errors but am curious about this. In the build info my GL has a steering wheel vital sensor, but I have not seen any manifestation of it, and never found any info on what it is/does.

There are various threads here on the ESP Inoperative error messages, and techniques for rectifying. It is an optical sensor and apparently the sensor benefits from being cleaned. It's not a difficult job if you are patient and methodical. Otherwise, simply replace the sensor, which is not very expensive.

try a steering angle sensor reset.
turn the car on
move the wheel all the way left and all the way right. many times this will reset the system.
can also be performed with a scan tool
