Question Looking for purchase input

Hello all! I am considering purchasing a 2008 GL diesel with about 160k on it. Price is about 10k.
I have owned several MB diesels but never this model.

I am seeking your input on:

1. Should I be afraid of the miles on it?

2. Is 10k a fair price with this amount of miles?

3. what MPG should I expect with this diesel?

4. Any problem areas I should be on the lookout for?

I will mostly be using this for towing a boat short distances and will also use it for trips to go skiing.
It will be replacing a 2007 Volvo XC90. I like the Volvo but the towing capacity on the GL is much higher which I need.

thanks in advance for your help.

It’s a great vehicle. At 160k get ready to do some preventative maintenance up front to get on schedule. I’m sure there is a lot of fluid to be changed. Maybe a PPI but at 10k for 60k car unless the engine is weak or using a lot of oil you should be fine. Lastly unless you can wrench get ready for big bills. Lots of stuff that fails. But nothing like it.

Good luck.

1. No, as long as there has been a comprehensive service history. I purchased my 2008 Gl320 with roughly the same miles and it had an extremely comprehensive service history as a result my Gl320 has had no issues and has been extremely reliable since it's had preventative maintenance performed.
2. Yes, the Gl diesels usually sell at a steep premium to KBB. I paid more than that but mine was really well optioned.
3. Highway usually around 26-27mpg traveling around 75-80/ In town 20-22mpg/ Towing 6k lb ~18-19mpg. Its a very fuel efficient vehicle
4. Make sure the oil cooler seals have been replaced as it could lead to a pretty pricey repair.

The Gl is a great vehicle you'll love it!
