Another Amp problem
Hi folks,
My amp had some water damage so looking for advice. This is under the front left seat and simply the foot well had some water in it. Assume the drain holes had been choked. Anyway the amp was removed, cleaned and you could see considerable corrosion and burning to the board. Its a Harmon Kardon unit.
Anyway was intermittent for a while but eventually died. I got hold of a second hand unit but no luck. Command system start, gives MB logo then black but also flattens battery over night.
Any though if they need coded to the car?

amps dont need to get coded to car.
problem is if you had enough water to damage the amp - you had enough water do damage various other components there. the overnight drain of battery is a good indicator that your wiring is bad

Just a quick update.
Alx, I assume you have not been in here before. The wiring loops down to the Amp so unless quite submerged the main wiring loom is generally okay. Indeed it is.
Turns out the problems was the AMP had shorted and by coincidence the main head unit/command failed at around the same time. After a lot of trial and error the command unit was flattening the battery overnight as it would not shut down.
As above Amp does not need coded.
