MERCEDES GL450
Has anyone tried to replace the deck on a 2008 GL450?
I want to replace this deck, but the spot i went to said that they would have a hard time replacing it since they'd have to custom make the housing or something.
Is that true or do they not want my business?
what's a good replacement deck? I want to have bluetooth and be able to also have a backup cam....

Oem style
The place you went to just doesn't know about the possibilities and companies that have already made products for this vehicle.
There are a lot of different manufacturers. This is just one of many.

Just a "thinking outloud" idea... If everything you have is currently functional, can you just add the Mercedes backup camera (I'm surprised your car doesn't have already it?). Maybe you don't even need the Merc brand? There's also wireless, stand-a-lone units that are pretty cheap. As far Bluetooth goes, I assume you have the more basic system like I do with the MP3/3.5mm input jack in the glovebox? I use a $15 dongle to get bluetooth music from my phone to the radio. It holds a charge for about 8-10 hours but can also be charged underway. For phone calls, I use the existing phone setup (that thingy in the armrest storage compartment) and phone calls vs music works seamlessly as the switching between music and phone calls is actually a function of the phone, not the car's system. Again, just a thought - but seems like it could be a lot less expensive and less labor intensive this way?

I think the armrest thingy is a relatively standard piece for this era. I did a google for "mercedes bluetooth phone puck" and it returned some appropriate hits. It's the one that is long and narrow, primarily silver in color, with black accents and two small lights at one end that light up blue.
I'm not sure what's going on with your existing camera, but it would probably be worthwhile to at least see if that's fixable.
The "aux port"... that typically refers to a 3.5mm round plug. But the way you are describing it, it sounds like you are referring to Apple's "30-pin" connector, like on the older iPhones? If so, you have an upgrade over my setup. But can't you just get a lightening to 30-pin adapter?
