The gloss black exterior trim strips on the lower edges of the all side window has peeled and now a piece has even broke off on my journey today.
it is ML2 2008
does anyone know where to buy this from and is it easy to fit?
Other options... They can be buffed and waxed - will look like new. I also found out, through this forum, that there are SS trim cover plates that are peel-n-stick - they go right on top of the existing trim pieces and look good.
Are you saying the trim, itself, actually broke? How did that happen? Did it break and fly away, or do you still have the pieces? Personally, I don't know where to get a new piece besides the dealer.
I've purchased new trim from the dealer (seems like it was about $80 a stick), had a shop repaint it ($25-50 stick) and finally gave up and purchased those SS trim pieces off eBay. They look great, last forever and are about $80 for the entire truck...but not sure how they'd work with a broken piece of trim underneath.
Also had one start peeling. I peeled the entire section and waxed. Almost looked as good as the others but decided it was time to get the chrome as I had a number of other chrome trim added already and liked it. I think most vehicles these days lack chrome. I have chrome light trim, door handles, window sill, hood fins and lower bumper at front and rear liftgate sill. the window sills were not expensive from ebay and are SS, not plastic.
