gl 450 2008 rack n pinion replacement

Do u have the video on rack n pinion replacement on GL450 2008 ? I found the one online for ML , but its kind a unclear
Also , please advise, does rack n pinion need to be replaces if it leaks? Are there a ways to change the gaskets maybe instead of replacing the whole thing which is way more work ?

I would like to know this as well. My service shop (non-dealer) wants $3,500 for this job and they said it's leaking and will need to be done sooner rather than later. I would love to just replace seals.

The only way is to drop the front differential out it sounds like a lot of work but it’s quite straightforward and not too complicated of a job

can u provide the video for how to drop the front differential out ? can u drop it in the garage , without car lift ? ( just using the regular jacks ) ? what will be holding a differential when its loose ? it can not just fall right ?

also , please advise, how to recognize , does the whole rack need to be replaced, or just the gaskets ( rings ) where it leaks?

My dealer rebuilt mine (apparently a kit is available - so at least some of the seals can be replaced) but it didn't work very long. It is leaking again, but not very much. I put in about 50ml every couple of weeks when it starts to howl. I figure 12 bucks a quart for the PS fluid is a lot better than the price of a new rack and pinion!

if your dealer did yours isn't there a two year warranty?

I would get them to fix it again then.
