Lightbulb GL 450 2009 air suspension pump

Hello everyone,

My Gl 450 has all four struts changed. There are no other leaks on the pump or valve block. Height sensors are fine too. The problem is when I accelerate to about 22 or so mph, the air compressor turns on and remains on until i come to a stop. On the highway , the pump keeps running because after a while, the suspension sign comes on. The car stays at normal height all the time. Two different mechanics have checked this problem. So far no solution. I have also changed the relay.
Anyone has any idea?

thanks

Could just be that the pump is old and tired - not running as efficiently as it should be so it's running longer. Arnott Industries.

It's funny, the first question that pops in my head when I hear something like that is "HOW does he know it's in good condition?" Does it "look" good? Is it good because it simply makes a sound and the bags inflate? How familiar with this system is he? I'm not knocking your mechanic or saying that the compressor IS starting to go bad - just that it makes logical sense. Did your mechanic do a compressor test? I don't have the advanced computer/tool to do this, but I've read that there is a test that can be done to check how efficient the compressor is.

Just change it. Do it now, before your old pump becomes inoperative when you're a $1,000 tow away from the nearest shop, where they'll laugh at your pathetic self while they run your credit to find out how much to charge you for the pump replacement.
