2010 GL tail light fast blinking
Hello,
I have a 2010 GL550 and the right rear taillight is malfunctioning.
Sometimes it works just fine, but most of the time it blinks really fast.
There are 2 of the LED's out. Should that make a difference? Do I have to replace the entire tail light?
BTW, it was a former very low water car, salvage.
Any suggestions will help.
Thank you, Bo

Is this a new to you gl? Is this a new to you problem?
I fear the Sams may have water damage. And probably the tail light too requiring replacement.
Can you check the Sams and terminals for water corrosion? Please post pictures.
Thanks.

A fast blinking indicator arrow on the dash means that either the front or rear turn signal bulb/led asmbly is bad. Not sure how many of the LEDs need to go out before the car brain thinks the light is bad. But first check the front turn signal and make sure it's working and then head to the rear. I think you need the entire assembly. Being a water damaged car is a huge warning flag, it could be corrosion in the connector, the SAM almost anything. Hope you got a great deal on it because I'd never touch a flood damage car with all the electronic stuff in it.

Yea, a got a great deal. Low miles, 67k, one owner. The dealer guy had it about a year and did the major work. It was real low water, otherwise I would not have touched it. SAM is fine. Had it checked. Will check front 1st. Thanks for all your advice.Bo

For a cheap and quick test, try swapping and plugging the left-rear tail light into the right-rear connectors (and vice versa).
If the problem follows the tail light, then the tail light is bad and may just need to be replaced (unless you're good with soldering and can replace the faulty LEDs); otherwise it could be the connectors (test with multimeter), a fuse, or worst case: the control module.
Good luck.
