Tanaka air bag issue 2012 GL450?
Is MB replacing these yet/is there any fix or do you just pray that one of the flying metal components doesn't kill you if the driver's air bag is deployed?

I got mine replaced a couple months ago.
I think there is a time component and geographic location attached to it, but parts are available so I would just schedule an appointment soon.

Apparently Brooklyn Mercedes Benz knows nothing of this recall. I got into a very heated debate with them about replacing my airbags. They won, lol.

Mine was replaced in January while I was getting my GL550 serviced at the dealership.
My SA advised that the company that makes the airbags filled for bankruptcy sometime ago. So they had a tough time finding the money to recall all the airbags affected.

I just got mine replaced today. They actually replace the "entire Mercedes Benz LOGO module on the front of your steering wheel". Thus, the airbag recall came with new volume and call/end call buttons

If I had one of the cars needing a replaced airbag inflator, I would ask for a written guarantee that it will not blow up in my face as shrapnel. If they refuse then you know that they know the replacement is just a band aid.
Read it and weep.
