2007 -2010 GL 450 SUV - Need Advice
Hello all, I had the opportunity to drive a 2007 GL 450 last year and was completely sold on the ride quality, stability and control. I am at the point of buying one now but I went to read about the reviews and there are so many horror stories about these
trucks. Even though I truly love these trucks yet an I am not prepared to buy a money pit. Please, can anyone who either owns one of these trucks or any one who know a lot about these trucks help advise me if this is a good vehicle to buy? your experiences..etc. I will be very grateful to hear from you the experts please!

A Mercedes is not a "never do anything to it" car.
There is a published maintenance schedule and it should be followed. Fairly expensive at a dealer, less so at an independent, but you need one with a Mercedes specialty and a loyal following. Don't take a Mercedes to a "general" mechanic.
2007-10 are now 9 to 12 years old and there are going to be some parts worn out, just like any car. Mercedes parts are more expensive than chebbie parts since they're higher quality, there are fewer Mercedes, and parts come from Germany.
GL have a very sophisticated air suspension system. It's likely worn out at 9 to 12 years old and it will be several thousand dollars to bring it back to new. No surprise this is more than for a less sophisticated car.
Even at 9 to 12 years old, owning one of these puts you in a top level car and you should expect top level car running costs. Don't hesitate to pay for a pre purchase inspection by a knowledgeable Mercedes technician.

Hi Ikchris, I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I agree that being a 9-12 year old vehicle, there may be items that needs attention and being a merc... well the $$$$ will be higher. I know of a Merc. mechanic who still works at the merc dealership, I will have him inspect the vehicle and take it from there. I thank you and DirkeBoer for the responses... Cheers!
