I am looking at a 2009 GL 450 with 124,000 miles on it. The Nav System doesn't work but the dealer says they will replace it. What worries me is a whining sound on start-up and oil dripping from between the front tires in the middle. Would this be the famous steering rack leaking or something simple like a hose? They are asking $13,500 for it.

The leak could be from the steering rack based on your description but hard to know for sure without seeing. Cam plugs on the backside of the motor can leak as well.

$13,500 is over retail for the age/mileage...and it has problems. I'd say that's not a good deal at all.
