Another "essential tool" I love is my Mityvac 7300 PneumatiVac Air-Operated Fluid Evacuator
Makes fluid changes wherever you have a dipstick soooo much easier.

There is a much simpler brake bleeder alternative, if you own an air compressor. In short, you put a barb fitting on a reservoir cap and connect to ~10 psi.
Here's the one I got, made by Motive:
If I had to do it all over again, I'd make my own with an old master cylinder cap. But I've invested in pipe thread taps, so ...

I have a fluid extractor. Use it all the time on boat, waverunner, cars, etc.
I have this extractor
I was looking for a pump. I picked this up.
I ordered this for lifting it up.

I also decided against the shell fluid and going with Pentonsin.

Wow, that's some hardware.
I was going to put the fluid in a 2-liter soda bottle, put in a dip tube that adapts to the transmission fill / drain hole somehow, and then another tube to push compressed air in at maybe 20psi.
I am ashamed.

I thought there was not a dip tube. I looked for it and couldn't find it.
I have to change the fluids in my GL550, 535i,and wife's Honda Pilot. I figured I would just invest in the tools to make it easier.
I also need to do the water pump on my 535i. The quickjack will help give me more clearance.

That's what I use, as well as their D6 ATF for my transfer case. I've use their motor oil as well in the past, but it's a touch too pricey when Liqui Moly works great.

Transmission takes 10L of ATF 134 FE ???? https://www.rmeuropean.com/mercedes-...placement.aspx
Differentials take 1L each 75W90 ???? https://www.youcanic.com/wiki/merced...l-fluid-change
What for the transfer case? ATF Fluid? How much?

75W90 For the diffs - No - 75W85 w/limited slip is the current recommendation from Mercedes - Look for Mercedes approval 235.7 or 235.74 on the container
Regular ATF 134 (Red in color) for the Transfer case. Look for Mercedes approval 236.12 on the container
Some folks here use Mobil1 75W90 limited slip in their diffs without problems, but the above is what the factory currently recommends.

See below. This is how much I would buy, not how much you will actually use, assuming you are doing both differentials and also the torque converter... You can find fill capacities easily with a little searching. The DIY threads (look for the phrase DIY in the titles) are really useful and well done for these services.
ATF 134 FE (Blue in color) for the Transmission - Yes - Look for Mercedes approval 236.15 on the container - 10 liters (I needed about 9 liters including torque converter)
75W90 For the diffs - No - 75W85 w/limited slip is the current recommendation from Mercedes - Look for Mercedes approval 235.7 or 235.74 on the container - 3 liters (each differential takes about 1.3 liters)
Regular ATF 134 (Red in color) for the Transfer case. Look for Mercedes approval 236.12 on the container - 1 liter (you need about 0.6 liters)

Looks like I can go all Liqui Moly products then.
TOP TEC ATF 1600 for Transfer Case
TOP TEC ATF 19000 for Transmission
85W90 Hypooid Gear Oil for difs. (matches OEM part number)
I am leaning this way since I think they have top-notch products. My Q7 felt better after the move over.

I finally got around to doing the trans fluid in my GL, and I don't think the trans temperature from Torque is accurate. The temperature went to over 113F within 30 seconds on a cold start when the pan was still cool to the touch and the infrared thermometer read 75F. I ended up using the infrared to judge fluid temp.

I have 167K miles on 2008 GL320 Last oil change 6 K ago I changed transmission oil
#1 is funny - But: you might actually hear some of the indies and the dealer actually recommend you don't do it.
Their rationale is the old wives tale that flushing a transmission with no known maintenance history of changing fluid at recommended intervals will actually cause premature failure, due to the new fluid containing less grit and wear materials in it, causing the tranny to start slipping. Well, ask yourself - do they add that grit in the factory, because a tranny with 9 miles on it still needs to function.
I don't subscribe to that logic.
I can see a scenario where the new fluid's detergents dislodge stuck grit and particulates, and circulate that through the tranny to cause even more wear and slipping - but you should also r/r the filter to prevent this from happening.

if not what would be needed to replace on the truck now. What should be the budget. This truck was from GA imported to Canada back in 2014 when 90K miles.

Lads if u wanna change ur tranny/diff/engine, oil do it before its cold ,pour it into a measured jug til its cool then uv a good idea wats needed in system ,clean ur magnets from debree ,leave open to drain anything for 5 mins ,get petrol
(its the same as there flushing fliud) pour into whatever system ur doing (fill it nearly) tighten bolt up an rock ur car side to side r drive 20 feet forward an back to remove any gunk or stuck particles , leave few mins then drain, leave open to air out for few mins ( petrol evaporates) ,then get ur new oil an put 500 mls in ,drive10 r 20 feet forward then back , it does no harm to diff or tranny, don't start it if its engine ur doing but , an drain that out, ,then put exact same amount that uv removed initially ,as long as ud no leaks of course back in ur system, tighten the nut an job done 10 15 mile slow Drive to lube everything, ,all this open nut ,check temp **** is just to scare people from diy ,my brother works for MB Ireland, an has told me this is unwritten company policie scare mongering ,,they do
tranny /diff oil change this way in MB main dealers apparently, but obviously know there oil levels on each model ,welcome to Ireland's methods enhancing system longevity,

Should I take it to dealer now?. Someone with good transmission knowledge would answer previous post in my question.

Please describe exactly how the fluid was changed. Do not omit one detail from the procedure. Thanks.

I changed all oils on the vehicle including transmission and differential at my brother in law shop. The truck is very well maintained. The transmission is now slipping odd times. Although all parts were purchased at local dealer. What is the fix and what do I do. Is there any easy fix available for your expert experience. Now at 167 K miles

When you step to throttle you feel odd times transmission loosing power or slipping how standard transmission with low / slipping clutch plate does on cars. It does it after you make a turn and step on paddle. Moving straight you might not feel it. I will make a video to upload in the morning for you.
