Saab Crazy
Advice Diesel vs Gas GL/GLS

7 none trouble free miles down with the GL, barely hitting 110k miles, and seems to leak from everywhere, and I cannot get my wife to look at another SUV .
The diesel is out for me ... every cent of money I saved in fuel, was multiplied by 10x spent on unplanned maintenance ... These cars are truly garbage where the diesel engine is concerned (at least compared to the Diesels of the 80's).
Don't get me wrong, it truly is an exceptional vehicle (when it is working as expected, but so was my SAAB) - It's the headache factor of none reliability that is killing me, especially when I drive an EV, and have basically done nothing to my car in almost 7 years, except change the tires, and the 12 volt battery .

Now I'm stupid enough to possibly get another one ... Looking at 2017 GLS 450 (Gas version), and hoping it will be better mechanically, but I honestly don't know, and looking for advice ? (Bad move ?)
I will take any advice, recommendation, candid feedback ...
Thanks in advance ..

Gas engine is light years more reliable and with the new transmission and efficiency it gets 90% of the MPG's of the diesel
There really is no reason to buy the breakdown prown diesel. This was very evident even on the X164 GL early on in production.

Your diesel assessment is accurate. Consider that V6s are generally more reliable than V8s in the MB world, plus the fuel consumption difference. The M272 V6 engine has a balance shaft issue for part of its production run. M276 V6 engines are viewed as more reliable than most.
