In addition to the hanger tool, a way to make wheel installation easier is to lift the vehicle to only the height necessary to remove the wheel, and no higher. This means the weight of the vehicle is *just* off the tire, and there is a small fraction of an inch of space between the bottom of the tire and the ground.

Seems like that would be a pretty big endeavor. Have you looked to see if stud-style rotors are even available?
I now use a wheel hanger, but before I had that... for all of my cars that have/had nuts instead of bolts... the bottom of the tire will always want to tip outward, away from the car. Start by making sure you spin the rotor so there is a hole directly at the bottom. The put your wheel onto the lip with a wheel hole directly at the bottom. Gently, keep the wheel from tipping away by using your foot or knee. Thread a bolt fully into the hole by hand and now you can relax and do the rest. The trick is keeping the bottom of the wheel from tipping away.

I don't, but have a hanger bolt somewhere that helped. Similar to this.
