Power Mirror Not Folding

As my 2012 GL350 gets older, there seems to be more issues popping up and my need to ask for help!
2-3 months ago I was at the car wash and drying underneath the passenger side power mirror with the engine off. After drying everything off, I started my car and noticed the passenger side mirror didn’t fold outward. I got out of my car with the engine running and manually pulled the mirror out then drove home. I noticed after that incident the passenger side mirror has been slow in folding and makes a mild grinding noise. Today, the mirror stopped working al together unless I help fold the mirror in or out.
my question is.... How do I fix this mirror?

So are you saying the only solution is to buy a new mirror. I think at $330.00 for the mirror, it can work slowly or not at all.

You may want to open up the mirror to see if there is any problem inside. Mine had a couple of severed wires that I spliced back together to fix.

Ok. Thanks for the information. How do you open up the mirror housing and are the gears/wires visible to inspect?

You start by grabbing the viewing mirror piece on both sides and firmly pulling it out. It may seem like if you pull too hard you'll break something, but you won't. You need pull it a lot harder than you'll feel comfortable with. Installation is the reverse - position the mirror and push it firmly to pop in. Once the mirror pops out you'll see most of the guts. If you need to go further you'll next have to release the tabs holding the trim piece around the mirror to separate it from the back piece. To get the back piece off you need to unlatch a few more clips holding it in place. I had to remove a couple of screws holding the turn signal light assembly because I also had to replace the light. I don't remember if that was necessary to get the back cover assembly off.

I haven't taken the mirror completely off the door on this car before, but like most cars I believe you need to pop the triangle trim piece inside the door and remove any bolt(s) holding the assembly to the door. If the harness connector is not in the triangle piece then you'll have to pop the inside door panel to find out where it goes to disconnect it.
