Reason #27 - Why I still love the GL320 cdi
Just back from a 1800 mile road trip in the '08 320 CDI. I filled up first thing when headed home and did not fuel again for 750 miles. It must have been right at 27 mpg on #1 diesel (winter blend) with about 70% at 75 mph, the rest at 70.
It is really nice to be able to choose when and where I get fuel.
I'm not driving as many miles these days, so I am only up to 322,000 miles. The only recent "repair" was to replace the driver's seat cushion (it had lost one inch or more of height). Which might be reason #8 why I still drive my '08; Mercedes had the replacement cushion for next day delivery!

Great post!
Still with my 2007 purchased new, but only 83K miles ... have 2 other cars plus I'm a motorcycle guy.
For fun, I'm just now installing the "optical offroad package."
My biggest worry is avoiding biodiesel.

Nice! My x164 320CDI lasted 45,000 miles in my ownership until we said enough is enough - but that car is still alive, mileage unknown as I saw it in traffic about six months ago.
I do remember one episode where we got 30 mpg on the highway - but that was enabled by drafting a big rig, about two car lengths behind.

I've been amazed at the mileage I get from this GL. And I have been generally been quite happy with it. It's had a few quirks along the way, but nothing that's really out of the ordinary for any car. Overall it's been pretty reliable and I hear from quite a few people that it is the same for them. I'm only a little over 100K miles, though - nowhere near what you have!

I see the same results with mileage at those speeds. If I back down to 60, I can see 30mpg.
You could have clogged air filters... a leak in the turbo pipe system... maybe other things. But if you're driving "normal", you should be getting better mileage. Like any car, gas or diesel, if something is amiss, one of the first things you notice is a decrease in mileage.
EDIT: Oh... you can probably find more info about reasons for low mileage by googling or searching this site. After you do that, if you still have questions, it's probably best to start a new thread. But please try searching first - it will help in many ways.
