GL trailer problem fixed - rear SAM repaired
Just thought I’d share I had a towbar fitted to my GL, first problem was fitter couldn’t code took it to Mercedes to have trailer software installed, then he got it all working except brake light flashed went off, star said short. Same even on LED board.
He got a new loom, same problem, gave up.
I got star revently, today decided possible isolated problem with rear SAM, took it out, apart, saw some corrosion visible on a bit of board, cleaned with white spirit, toothbrush, hairdryer, so a month or so after first attempt I now have working towbar without another trip to Mercedes to send me a bill for replacing SAM.
If you have odd faults even if rest of SAM functioning fine it is possible a bit of local contamination is the cause. It’s not too tricky to investigate.
