2009 trunk latch issue

My original latch would not open so I replaced it with a new trunk latch. Now it opens and closes fine but then I noticed a noise coming from the latch about every 30 seconds which eventually drained my battery. I thought maybe a got a bad latch so I ordered another one and the same thing. It acts like it is trying to do something every 30 seconds. The only thing I can do for it not to drain my battery is disconnect the latch or keep the trunk open.

does the tailgate move with the noise? (even minutely) - maybe put your thumb across the shutline and see what you can feel wile the noise is happening
does it think the trunk is not quite closed? can you adjust the keeper (what I call the part mounted to the body - not the latch mechanism) but only if the tailgate is moving..

Hope my wording makes sense - I know us Aussies speak weird

Hi, I'm another Aussie, great to find another on site. I just joined the wagon world yesterday, with a 2008 GL320 120k drove home 45k with permit, half way home engine light came on, haven't tried to clear it yet.
I have the best car I have ever owned in the shed with a front evaporator sensor fault, no one can tell me where it is located in a RHD. S430 W220 2000 mod. Figure I will just have to use it for winter trips.
I am on the older side, 1944 model, I will probably need some help getting head around the new one.

Hi Roger, it would be best get the code before you clear it (most scanners will make you read it anyway), it is weird My GL320 (08) had 119k on it when I bought it too, I bought a Autel scanner from Ebay - it came with one manufacturer software only but I can add more for $10US Have you put the evaporator problem out on the W220 forums? am sure they would help.

Thanks for getting back, still learning but ran the diagnostics on the 164 this morning and cleared the fault, it was "low fuel rail pressure" and I noticed the fuel guage was going on to reserve. Can also cause the engine light to come on?.
I've tried all forums over last year for 220 a few responses but no luck with exactly were and how on a RHD model.
I had both knees replaced last year so getting under the dash was difficult to find out it was the wrong side. Someone must have replaced one you would think.

Hopefully that is the cause (low fuel), I would have thought it would have surged or spluttered but maybe it was on the cuspeth. Keep in mind that you have to turn the fuel filler cap until it ratchets or you will get codes as well. I suppose it the engine was running lean it might throw codes

The GLS 320 CDI sure has a mind of it's own, have driven back and forth to Sydney (160K each way) several times and "low fuel rail pressure"still an error code. Sometimes clears itself and stays off for a couple of days then back on.
The S430 back out now it is cooler, still has the sensor code coming up when the climate control calls for cooling. Seems no one has had to replace the sensor on a RHD mod. Will have to pay the big bucks to get it fixed, shame its the best drive by far I have ever been in for pure class, it is even quieter than the Bentley Star runs.
Brought an Autel619 and great for checking and clearing codes. I have heard that the Star Diag Tool will even tell you where the faulty part is located?
