Greetings,
I am about to change eng oil on my 2013 GL450. I have been using 5W40 but today I came across a thread of 0W40.
My vehicle has some tapping noise from engine. I am suspecting it could be engine oil or something. Should I stick with the 5W40 or 0W40 will kill the tapping noise?
A day after I changed the oil, I checked oil level with a dip stick. Even after putting 9 Qarts a day earlier, nothing came on the dip stick and there are no leaks etc. I wanted to ask what could be the reason of why oil did not come on dip stick?

Oil needs to state Mercedes 229.5 approval on the bottle. The W number is meaningless except for very cold weather starting. New oil is sometimes so clear it appears invisible on dipstick.
