Front and Rear Differential Limited Slip or Not?
For North America GL450 without off-road package, are the differentiasl limited slip or not? The owner's manual for 2010 and similar years calls for Hypoid Gear Oil in the differential but it doesn't say anything about whether an LS additive is necessary or not. Besides MB oil, I know most GL-5 oil with LS additive (like Mobil 1 75W-90 with LS) will do even if it doesn't carry MB 235.x badge, but I'm trying to determine if it's necessary/required to have friction modifier or a standard GL-5 gear oil in the correct weight but without LS additive will do.

No LSD in base 4MATIC.
Quasi-LSD function is provided by 4ETS which is single wheel braking using the ABS system.
Given the presence of electronic traction control, mechanical limited slip is basically redundant.
They do not have differential fluid for Mercedes at ‘merikun auto parts dime stores. Use what Mercedes specifies.
FWIW i first changed mine at 75k miles and the old stuff (11 years old) was in perfect condition.
you’ll require new o-rings for the plugs.
