P0455

Whilst tootling along in traffic yesterday an alert came up saying something about fuel filler door open (it wasn't) and check engine light came on. When I got home I read the code to be P0455 (Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected - Large Leak).

I have cleared the code but haven't driven the car since to find out if it'll come back. I faintly remember the fuel filler door warning coming on back in Los Angeles.

Will an ordinary fuel filler door throw a code?

Thanks.

Yep, in all cars. It’s not the door it’s the cap letting out back pressure either by being not fastened or having a faulty seal.

The evap solenoid can also leak, causing a 0455. Apparently this can be caused by topping up fuel, as the fuel leaks into the solenoid and degrades the seals.

Please where is this located on the 09 GL450? Is it under the right rear wheel liner or in the engine bay?

Thanks.

Right rear wheel liner. It really is not hard to get to. A bit dirty, though.
