Code P0705 - Transmission Range Sensor

Happened a few times now (x4) where while at highway speed, transmission will kick out of gear (acts like in neutral). I have to pull over and turn vehicle off, once restarted it operates normal. Im sure problem is not going to resolve its self and likely become more common.

Full trans fluid replacement about 20k miles ago, 185k on trans. Has the 722.9 tranny

Any thoughts on where to start?

Seems to be happening more frequently (still not every trip, sometimes multiple times in a trip). Ive read countless threads, still to no avail. Looks like the 722.9 tranny does not have the 13 pin connector many have had issues with in the past.

Can anyone lead me to where the transmission range sensor is located, if it even has one (in or out of tranny)?

Now just one GL450 with EORP.
You need to have this read out with an MB Star tool - generic codes don’t really say much. Common failure points in these is the vehicle speed sensor/contactor plates on said sensor, but that fault is usually manifested by a limp home mode and inability to shift out of second.
At 185 K you’re also approaching the natural lifespan of this tranny. I’m at 220 and expecting another 15-20K tops.
