Boilover at high idle w/ no pressure cap
In refilling the cooling system, I thought I was being smart by putting on a burping funnel and revving the motor to get air out of the system.
Ain't so; twice in a row it boiled up and over the rim of the funnel. I guess the thermostat runs close enough to boiling point that even a coolant mix gets pockets of steam inside the motor.
Lesson learned: Don't try to run without the cap, and just fill the coolant reservoir, running the motor for a bit. Top it up the next day.
