2008 GL 550 Gas Door won't open after Tailgate lock removed

2008 GL 550 Gas Door won't open after Tailgate lock removed
As many misadventured stories begin, My sister in-law took her mercedes to a neighborhood "mechanic"....
So this guy finds the tailgate lock isn't work and he removes it (Takes interiors side trim off). Now, the gas door won't lock. In fact none of the doors lock when the remote button is pushed. I got her to get the truck out of this guy's hands and bring it to my house where it sits now. THere are many issues with this 'car' but my immediate concern is getting gas into it so I can get I can get it to a actual mercedes mechanic. I see the guy left a fuse box on the side where the gas door is (inside the cargo area) exposed. I don't know what he did but any suggestions on how to get the gas doo open so I can put the 'go juice' in the tank?
