Air Strut Compression Tip for you DIY Guys

Wife's idea not mine ... Get a ratcheting tie down from Home Depot or Harbor Freight. Helps you not become an alcoholic after this job. Do the same for the new shock. You only need 1/2"-3/4" compression to fit it over the front axle shafts.

Now you know.... And knowing is half the battle...

2008 GL320CDI (265k) & 2017 GLS450 (120k)
I have done this job a few times. Somehow I managed without. I would move those hooks down a little more.

That's a bad strut. Could care less if it punched a hole. The new one had the hooks closer to the U.
