long lasting GL450's on TURO

seems pretty quiet in this forum these days...
Just my observations on the car-sharing platform TURO.
It's a bit surprising to see that there are quite some 10+ year old GL450 available for rent on TURO, for ~ $60 per day, and they have good reviews.
This shows that the X164 is a robust SUV and can be economically maintained.

Or the owners are milking a vehicle with oil leaks and scored bores.

GL450 run which engine?

My OM642 has oil leak, tick. Scored bores (maybe). I am getting a knock-y sound at the bottom of the engine. Read some posts here about piston slap but I cant really differentiate. Knock doesn't go away even when engine is at operating temperature.

There is a limit to how long it can be milked. The ECU starts throwing misfire codes, and sending the engine into limp mode in order to spare the precious catalysts, when it senses weak output from a cylinder.
