Strange noise from front right area

Hello all, first post so be gentle, here goes. I have a 2012 GL 550 4matic and just this weekend i performed a brake pad replacement on this vehicle. Once finished and test driving i heard a noise from the front right when the brakes were applied. It sounds like popping metal along with slight squeal. The sound is heard only when breaking, when in motion its quiet and it seems to break better than it did with the old pads. I even did the new pads a second time yesterday just to see if i missed something and everything looked good to me. I did use brake lube on the moving parts but it did not help. Also, the rotors are within tolerance with no visible scarring on them. Any advice from fellow MBenzers is appreciated. Thanks

Did you separate the slide caliper at any point when replacing the pads and rotors? Typically a loose slide caliper bolt can cause a clunk or this too. Not sure what your mileage is but I've come to notice some components like steering rack bushings and sway bar links fail simultaneously after suspension work.

Hi Andy, thanks for replying. My mileage is 119,000 and to be sure I understand your question about the caliper slide, I just removed the caliper to get to the pads and the brake pad sensor, after removing the two caliper pins the whole piece just works back into your hand so to speak, reset the pistons, installed new pads and just reversed my steps in assembling the caliper back into its "frame" and put this, not sure what it is called, but this piece fits tight against the outward facing part of the caliper. You can actually see this piece when looking in from the wheel. Thank you for your time.
