Replace headlamp plastic only?

I see a lot of headlamp upgrade content but not exactly the info I need.
My 2010 GL550 headlamp covers are starting to become foggy/milky and while I have experience with the Siemens headlamp restoration kit (its awesome btw) I will need to remove them to bring them inside to do the service.
Got me thinking I could just replace the plastic cover and gasket as it appears the cover snaps on.

Anyone done this?

Thanks in advance!

I have never tried replacing just the clear plastic - but I have done restoration in place, which is pretty straight forward and easy.

Agreed. I have done 2 of our other cars with the Siemens kit. Its just too cold and too wet to do it on vehicle and I dont have a garage. Thus the bench work either way.

Hoping someone chimes in about the plastic replacement.

Yea. I have done it. However, it requires removing the headlight assemblies from the car, butyl rope and a heat gun. But, you'll have brand new lenses. It's not a gasket you see; it's the butyl tape, which is the adhesive. And those snaps are secondary, not what primarily holds the lens in place.
