Help With AirMatic Code

I’m getting a C1509 and C1503 code.

I’m looking for guidance on how to proceed.

Thanks.

Does this software have the ability to test the compressor?

Do that.

Thanks for the response, it’s BlueDriver. I’ll see if it does and report back,

Watch out. I believe the system will not be able to tell the difference between a failing (leaky) pump and a leaky reservoir - except that the leaky reservoir would also show a code for leaky reservoir, presumably diagnosed by testing the reservoir pressure over time. So if you have a leaky reservoir, you might get codes for both failing pump and leaky reservoir.

Note that the leak on the reservoir could be anywhere from the fitting at the valve block all the way to the reservoir itself.

You really ought to have a bidirectional tool so you can send instructions, such as to check the pressure at the reservoir (which requires opening the appropriate valve at the valve block), or test the pump's performance. Make sure to get a good tool, as the quality of the software may vary - and the tool has to have been customized to interface with the computers in thousands of different cars. Or you can get a STAR clone.

The best scan tool for airmatic issues is a spray bottle with soapy water. Its a very basic system so don't expect too much from any codes that it gives you. Start with the airbags (under pressure) and work your way from there.

this is the way, but a compressor test will rule out a weak one. If there is a a leak somewhere, DAS can narrow down where you should be using your one can of leak detector spray/soapy water.

That reservoir code is a red herring though, as the leak can be anywhere along the bidirectional air line between it and the valve block.

failure to build pressure is very often the compressors fault, but failure to keep it points to valve block.
