2010 GL450 white
Coil suspension
I have converted to coils from strutmaster about 3 years ago on my 2010 Gl450 and is now time to replace them but I Do not want to use strutmaster, What I have been thinking and researching but with no conclusion is, Can I use the Ml350 front coil struts on my GL? I have read in older post that it was not possible, but has anyone done it? if you have done it please let me know because they do sell quality coil struts from Bilstein for the ML350 but I you compare that strut with the Strutmaster they are exactly the same looking strut the performance is not the same we all know that. So if you have a GL with OEM ML Coil strut suspension please let me now

Did they last only 3 years?? I was under the impression that would be a much longer lifespan, no?
Then the question is, whats the point on switching to coils, sounds like a good quality air suspension has longer life expectancy.

Tas, I don't have the answer you're asking about, but... along the lines of the above... are you SURE that they're bad? Unless you're in a high salt area - both roads and in the air, they "should" last much longer. Even then, 3 years is a short life. Just out of curiosity, why do you think they're bad?

The shock inside could probably be rebuilt.

I don't have my GL to compare to anymore, but the coil spring shocks on my ML550 sure look they'd fit on a GL Glad I stuck my head under the car to look since I discovered the big end of my CV boot had popped off.
