power steering pump & hoses replacement question
Will need to replace power steering pump soon. (symptom: occasionally hard to turn steering wheel when in reverse)
bought the remanufactured Bosch from FCP euro.
I've replaced the power steering reservoir before, so this task seems manageable.
Question is
1. is it a good idea to replace the two power steering hoses?
2. wonder if there is a write up or youtube video on how to replace those two hoses, I had an impression that one of the hose end is pretty hard to reach.
thanks a lot,

I didn't bother replacing the hoses on mine - they seemed to be in good shape. I put 50K ish on the new pump (same one you bought) without issue. Make sure to follow the bleeding directions or you'll end up with a noisy pump.

There are three hoses. One is a big high pressure line. The second is a low pressure line from the rack to the radiator. This is readily available. The third is a little u-shaped hose going from the radiator to the reservoir. This is available as a pre-bent part, or you can just get some fuel / oil hose of the appropriate diameter. I bought some cheap fuel hose from Amazon but it ended up hardening on me. This is a mystery.
None benefit particularly from being changed along with the power steering pump. Of course it saves some labor, but I like to be miserly and to live dangerously, so I only changed them on an as-needed basis.
Remember, the low pressure power steering lines can leak onto and degrade the lower heater hose, so it is important to not ignore leaks in this area. It would be so much better if the solid metal section of the lower heater hose extended past where the low pressure power steering hose connects.
