2008 CLK350 CABRIOLET & 2005 SL500
COMMAND UNIT
2008 GL550, 177K miles, runz and drivez, somewhat! Was an abandoned vehicle.
Command Unit Issues:
1. Somewhat difficult to find data/posts for this vehicle. Head unit does not have an entertainment screen as in my s550 (2007), only radio, cd's, tel and system buttons. I have yet to find AUX even though it has a "JACK and IPOD" connection in glove box. When I plugged in an inexpensive bluetooth device in the "AUX port, same thing, it pairs, but no sound even tho radio and cds will play with sound. I have used this bluetooth device in my '06 ML500 with glove box AUX and works just fine because the head unit has an AUX choice. I used the IPOD w/bovee unit in my previous '08 CLK350, because it too had an AUX. For some reason cannot locate one on this GL.
2. I did take apart my dash to see if AUX was connected and it appears to be but I could not help but notice I burned my hand on the metal box it was so hot and hadnt even been using the unit. I did read that perhaps the exhaust fan needs some RR/cleaning. Will try that next.
3. It does have a "PUCK" in the center console, which does seem to work, light up and my phone bluetooth recognizes it, but not certain how it should operate. My understanding is that this is for the phone calls only? When I hit the TEL button, not much seems to happen....some choices, but nothing related, or so it seems. Need to do more research.
Any comments are appreciated....except for "DUMP IT!".
Thanks
RB

Fix the air suspension first
The auxiliary Inn is an RCA 3.5mm female port at the left side of the glove compartment. Make sure that you have the volume up on whatever it is you’re playing. And that is a hardwired connection that has nothing to do with Bluetooth.
The puck/dongle in the center console is obsolete and sound quality marginal. Best I would just chuck that thing..
But first things first, if it sags that much from sitting overnight, then you’ve got bigger problems
