M273 GL550 & 450 intake removal URO intake kit

Would like to hear from experienced DIY mechanics on when and if I should pull the intake and put the new and improved URO parts. I have a relatively low mileage GL550 with 80k miles. I have put a lot of time and money keeping up with maintenance… air ride components, all fluids, pulleys, belt…
Reading all the issues with swirl intake breakage I am thinking of removing the intake and installing the URO improved parts??
No check engine lights and runs great… any advice? thanks Bill

251k and it hasn’t eaten plastic yet.

Just going to leave it alone.

115k miles on my M273 and no issues. PCV / Rebreather all clear as well so am hopefully not expecting any issues. On the swirl flaps i'd be letting it be at 80k unless you have reason to think otherwise

oh by URO parts you mean the improved linkage? Here’s what I would not do: put the improved metal linkage on an age hardened intake.

That will put more strain on the swirl flaps as they are now moving again, and will likely provoke or accelerate breakage of this whirl flap and then you’re in real trouble.I would only put the URO linkage on a brand new manifold..

Otherwise, I would just leave it alone. I’m assuming that your stock linkage is broken or is about to at this age and mileage.

Gl550 mileage

I sold my first 2008 GL550 with 160k miles with no swirl problems?? I really want to keep this 2011 with 80k miles for a while and if that involves replacing the intake I will do that too. I guess I will wait until a code or rough idle starts?? I have read a few articles about checking the Vin to see if it has the updated Intake??? Anybody have info about when they started to put the updated Intakes in the 550 engines? thanks again Bill
